Prime Minister unveils new school sport vision to boost access and participation

Two hours of PE, a boost to inclusion, and improvements to school sport transparency announced.

The Prime Minister has set out a new vision for school sport, guaranteeing every child access to a minimum of two hours of high-quality PE each week. As part of the announcement, a new Enrichment Framework will focus on increasing participation among girls and pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), aiming to close longstanding activity gaps.

The plan also includes the introduction of School Sport Partnerships to better connect schools with local clubs and national sporting bodies. To boost transparency and drive improvement, schools will now be expected to publish their sport and enrichment offer through updated ‘school profiles’, giving parents and communities a clearer picture of what’s available.
