The programme is being run as part of a national campaign to help highlight the importance of children’s eye health, demystify eye tests for children and remind parents that free eye tests are available to all children aged 16 and under. Eye health problems often remain undetected in primary school children and could cause them difficulties at school, including behavioural problems. According to a recent survey, 38% of children go to the optometrist every two years, compared to 92% visiting the dentist.
The Eye Know Eye Care programme has recently
received coverage in the
national media to help
highlight the importance
of children’s eye health.
