'Huggable Heroes®: recognition for amazing young people!'
Huggable Heroes® is Build-A-Bear Workshop’s® special programme that recognises the amazing achievements of young people who inspire and help others.
This is the second year of the Huggable Heroes programme in the UK and they will be selecting 12 deserving young people aged 18 and under (2 from the UK and Ireland, 7 from the United States, 2 from Canada and 1 from France) to be their 2008 Huggable Heroes.
Each winner will receive a fantastic prize worth $10,000 (a $7,500* gift to put towards their education and a $2,500* donation to the charity of their choice) Not only that, but they’ll be flying to America to meet the winners from previous years and taking part in a professional photo shoot for our 2009 Huggable Heroes calendar.
Help us find our 2008 Huggable Heroes
Who are this year’s amazing young people? Here are a few things you could do to help us find them:
- Create awareness for the scheme in morning assembly.
- Give your pupils a letter to take home asking parents why their child is a candidate. (Anyone can nominate.)
- Put a bulletin in your next parent newsletter.
- Make it a feature in your PSHE and Citizenship lessons.
Who are we looking for?
Build-A-Bear Workshop thinks that a Huggable Hero is someone who makes our world a better place through their generosity and kindness. For example, they could be:
- Volunteering at the local hospital.
- Working for a charity or caring for someone.
- Fundraising.
- Campaigning for a good cause.
