Make Your Mark is the national campaign inspiring young people to have ideas and to make them happen. They have asked the National Schools Partnership to tell you about Make Your Mark Clubs; a dynamic national network of enterprise clubs for Key Stage 3&4 pupils that is already being used by schools and colleges across the UK. As a member, your school would benefit from free resources, great incentives, the chance to share creative ideas with other schools and access to information that could help your school raise money.

Make Your Mark Clubs are run by students and supported by staff. They provide time and space for young people to make their ideas happen. Every club is unique and the enterprising ideas that are brought to life range from improving the school grounds to starting a fair trade business.

What's involved?

Anyone can set up a club. All you need is a group of enthusiastic pupils and a comfy space to meet. There is no set formula for running a Make Your Mark Club - it's up to you what ideas you bring to life, and how you structure the activities.

The most important thing is that the club provides a time for enterprising students to develop their talents. Ideas so far have included putting on school and community events and productions, making and selling ice cream, working with a large manufacturer to develop a talking toothbrush for young children, and running a car valet service.

Make Your Mark Clubs:   Are a great way of preparing students for their lives post-16 through work-related learning Bring your enterprise clubs and existing student-led businesses to life Encourage students to work as a team and discover new skills Can involve the entire student body, teachers and parents Provide a place for students to develop their creative ideas Raise money for the school, your community or a charity It can be a great way to link with local business Make a real difference in student attitudes, making for a happier and more unified school.

Enterprise Education and Work Related Learning:

This entitlement provides all Key Stage 4 pupils with the equivalent of five days' activity focused on enterprise capability. Enterprise capability includes - innovation, creativity, risk-management and risk-taking, a can-do attitude and the drive to make ideas happen. This is supported by financial capability and economic and business understanding.

Enterprise capability is a key output of work-related learning programmes, which became a statutory requirement in September 2004.
